Our Visit
I’ve lived in Orange County most of my life, yet I somehow never knew about The Reptile Zoo! One weekend, while searching for some family fun, it popped up, and we thought, why not? So, we packed up the kids and headed over.
Let me just say, spending our Sunday afternoon there was an absolute delight! The reptiles were full of energy, and the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. We all agreed—it was totally worth it!
Here are some reasons why we like it:
- We encountered an amazing variety of reptiles from all corners of the globe.
- It was heartwarming to learn that most of the reptiles had been donated to the zoo.
- The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and they made the experience even better, especially during feeding time.
- We got to pet iguanas, a Burmese python, and even hold a ball python—how cool is that?
- The highlight for the kids? Feeding several large tortoises. They absolutely adored it!

Activities Offered for an Additional Fee
During our visit, we saw:
- A designated room for hands-on experiences with reptiles.
- A thrilling photo opportunity while holding a Burmese python.
- A fun and interactive session, feeding vegetables with tongs to enormous tortoises.
Details We Discovered
- We were pleasantly surprised to discover that the zoo is much larger than we expected!
- Most enclosures provide fascinating additional information or a QR code to scan on your phone to learn more about the specific reptiles.
- We noticed it was quite humid in certain parts of the zoo, so visiting on a cooler day might make the experience even more enjoyable.
More Reptiles
Here are some of the other reptiles we saw from all over the world!
- Alligators
- Turtles and Tortoises
- Snakes (even a two-headed one!)
- Monitors
- Iguanas
- Temus
- Gila
- Frogs
- Albino reptiles

Additional Information
They also offer Jurassic Parties too!
Final Thoughts
The Reptile Zoo has definitely sparked our kids’ excitement about owning a pet reptile. Now, we’re seriously considering adding a new scaly friend to our family! We’re thinking about a bearded dragon or a leopard gecko, but we’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you have any recommendations for a beginner-friendly reptile?
