Our Visit
On a Saturday in October, after one of Megan’s soccer games, we decided to take a nostalgic drive up the I-5 Freeway to Los Feliz to catch up with some old friends. Jason and I have such fond memories of this area because it’s where we first lived as a young married couple. During our time there, House of Pies was our regular spot for dinner and dessert, so we thought it would be perfect to take our friends there for an early dinner. The familiarity and warmth of the place brought back so many cherished memories, making it a special outing for all of us.
Here are some reasons why we liked it:
- All-Day Breakfast: Megan was thrilled to have pancakes for dinner—a dream come true for her!
- Kid-Friendly Menu: The kids were delighted with their dedicated menu options, making it easy for everyone to find something they enjoyed.
- Exceptional Service: The servers were not only prompt but also incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home.
- Seating Options: The choice between cozy indoor seating and a breezy outdoor patio offers flexibility for any weather.
- Affordable Prices: Compared to other nearby spots, our meal was quite budget-friendly without compromising on quality.
- Convenient Parking: Free parking is always a win, whether it’s in their lot or on the nearby streets.

Details We Discovered
- Modern Bathrooms: I noticed that the single bathrooms have been recently updated and modernized, adding a touch of luxury to the visit.
- Sports Entertainment: The television provided a nice option for watching sports, and with the volume off, we could still enjoy easy conversation without any distractions.
- Comfortable Temperature: While it was a warm 80 degrees outside, we appreciated the pleasant and comfortable indoor temperature.
- Sweet Surprise: It was a delightful treat to receive complimentary chocolate chip cookies at the end of the meal, perfect for sharing and ending on a sweet note.
- Dessert Variety: There is an array of different flavored pies and desserts to indulge in, catering to anyone’s sweet cravings.

Additional Information
- House of Pies is conveniently located down the hill from the Griffith Observatory. It’s also near Skylight Books, a well-known bookstore, making it easy to enjoy a bit of browsing before or after your meal.
Final Thoughts
House of Pies is a wonderfully casual spot that’s perfect for catching up with other families. With their extensive menu, there’s something to satisfy everyone’s cravings. My kids and Jason loved their meals, giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. They left feeling full and happy. Personally, I’d rate it a 3 out of 5. I ordered the Impossible Burger meal and, while decent, I’ve had larger and tastier veggie burgers elsewhere. The fries were just okay and I found the meal a bit pricey for what I got.
Next time we’re in Los Feliz, I’d love to try Fred 62 or Home Restaurant. They both sound promising!
